Managerial Mediation is especially effective when used at the initial phase of any disagreement between employees, before conflict escalates in the workplace. An early managerial intervention can prevent both sides in a workplace conflict from becoming entrenched and the difference turning into a full-blown dispute. If the disagreement is resolved early on, there is less chance of the working relationship breaking down irrevocably.
Early managerial intervention improves the likelihood of maintaining good and productive employmee relations in the longer term. There are convincing reasons to promote the wider use of mediation in individual employment disputes. The advantage of using a manager led, informal approach means there is greater flexibility in how it is used to suit specific employees and the organisation more generally in the long term.
